Thomas quickly finds himself in unfamiliar territory, as he must put his faith in unusual companions—a cryptic knight, a child thief, and the beautiful, silent woman whom may not be all she seems. From the solitary life of an orphan, Thomas now finds himself tangled in the roots of both comradery and suspicion.
Can he trust those who would join his battle…or will his fears force him to go on alone?
I never thought I’d read a Christian book highlighting druids and templars. I mean really!
What I liked: It has a very appealing story line and it’s length and intensity are perfect for middle grade readers while still being interesting for older teens and girls as well.
I also really liked how a person was good or evil based on their choices not their position – it’s a hard lesson for many adults and I loved that it was shown to the readers in such an obvious and poignant way.
What I didn’t like: It was along the lines of Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, and Percy Jackson — it’s a definite middle-grade boys’ book. The boys loved it & thus while I could see it’s virtues it’s just not going on my re-read list.
