A madman who beats, rapes, and strangles while listening to opera?

What will come next? Yet this is just the case Eve was pull to from her hubby’s lavish affair where they were wining and dining the elite, yet again.

Eve’s thrilled! Until she narrows down that the hit really had nothing to do with the sweet young maid and everything to do with Roarke.

The best part? The opera aficionado walks right past all of the security cameras to get to the room. The hitch? The FBI – and their counterparts in most other countries – have been after this guy for ages and he’s always slipped past them. Eve won’t let that happen… if she has a choice.

Roarke has his own issues to deal with. One of his few remaining friends has returned from the grave to visit him. Coincidence?

My Thoughts

This is one of my least favorite of the In Death series. It’s not a bad book – just not a great book. An example? I’ve read it before yet was almost 1/3 of the way through before I realized it and then I almost put it down. This was one where knowing the end sort-of destroyed the book for me.
What I liked about the book: Eve’s personality generally runs true to form.. as does her car. She’s quite a lot nicer to Roarke in this book.. the sex scenes prove it!

What I didn’t like about the book: There is no one stealing candy. In some ways it was just another case with the same old theme. It’s quite graphic – gory graphic – and I didn’t enjoy the specifics.

I think I’ll be reading another one so I can want to read them again next month!

Steam: Way too steamy for little ones… and some big ones.

  1. I enjoyed your review! I haven't read any books by J.D. Robb, but i have heard good things!!

  2. Doesn't sound like something I would dig but I loved your review.

I also love made for TV Nora movies 🙂

  3. I had to go back and read what I said about this one on my own blog when I reviewed it and it turns out I didn't say much. LOL. Apparently, it isn't a highlight of the series for me, either.
