Eventually, the queen needs a laidies maid and remembers Cate’s father’s service and sends for Cate. He life is soon filled with hard work, catty women, and a beautiful queen. She adores it… for a while.
Cate of the Lost Colony is a young adult fiction centered on the life of a young girl whose life takes many twists and turns, one of the most piviitol is the turn that takes her to the colony of Roanoke. Many know of the disappearance of the colony of Roanake – even my boys asked if that was the lost conlony I was reading about – but none know what happened to the colonists.
What I liked about this book was the foundation. This author used well known people and historical facts to construct a fictional character and story that feels like fact. It was wonderful to immerse myself in the book.
This was a good solid book but I didn’t love it. I’m not sure why – maybe I just didn’t find it light enough – but I didn’t. I hope that you spend the time to read this book and to pass it on. It’s worth the time!
