Lelaina Zane will do just about anything to get her screenplay published until her mother calls with the news that her father is in the hospital.
Lelaina returns home to find that nothing has changed. Her friends are still her friends. Everyone is either a doctor or a lawyer. Her parents still expect her to become a lawyer and carry on the firm they’ve built.
When she finally makes it in to see her father he’s thrilled to see her. Which is wonderful – except that in his delirious state he believes that she’s come home to write the bar as he’s been begging her to for three years. Of course, Lelaina doesn’t have the heart to correct him.
Oddly enough, she also doesn’t have the heart to tell the boyfriend she’d caught cheating on her three years ago no either. Lelaina spends more time than she should with this cheating creep. How does she manage to find them?
They pretend not to hear and hurry away. This is bad. Really bad. What would Catwoman do? I doubt she could lift the box either, but Batman would have come to assist her by now. Travis is no Batman. Plus, I don’t think Travis would respond to the Bat Symbol. Maybe if I fired a mass of glitter and sequins high enough in the air.
This was a totally terrific book! I laughed from page one and didn’t put it down until it was finished!
We’ve all been there – well, maybe not exactly there – but in Lelaina’s general vicinity. Still getting over that cheating boyfriend from three years ago – even though you really thought you’d spend the rest of your life with him. At a dead end with your parents tolling their eyes at you wondering if you’re ever going to see the light and just do it their way. Wondering if what you fight for anymore is really what you love or if you’re still doing it just because you’re too stubborn to change.
What I loved about this book: It was hilarious! I don’t know when I’ve ever laughed that hard from a book. I loved the characters – except the ones I wasn’t supposed to…
What I didn’t like about the book: It was too short! I’m looking forward to finding more to read from Maya Jax!!
