Hott Review:

I was approached by Professor D to read his book a few days after having a conversation about the helpfulness of martial arts in raising youth. Obviously, I enthusiastically agreed. My husband works in our community through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and we try to always have resources and/or suggestions for the parents and coaches that come to us to help our youth.
So many lines are blurred in today’s society that parenting is tremendously difficult. Parents face challenges that were unheard of previously. We need new way to instill responsibility, accountability, and self-esteem in children. Written with wit and wisdom, Arm Your Child: A Parent’s Guide for Raising Happy, Positive Kids gives adults the tools they need to not only thrive through adolescence but also to become adults we respect. While I didn’t read anything new or earth shattering in Professor D’s book, I think his presentation and personality in Arm Your Child makes it a great resource. His suggestions and techniques are sound, though they won’t work for every child, and applicable in many situations.
Arm Your Child: A Parent’s Guide for Raising Happy, Positive Kids is definitely a book for my resource library & I’ll be sharing it with families looking for positive ways to guide their children with the values and atmosphere of a past time.

Author Bio:

Professor D’s philosophy is that there is nothing more precious than physical and mental health. Because most of us are given these blessings at birth we often take them for granted. As a result we chase after fame and fortune and forget about those things that are most precious, that is until we begin to experience anxiety, a lack of sleep, poor health and even depression.

Professor D (Wil Dieck) began searching for ways of strengthen the mind and body when he began his studies of martial arts and human behavior over 4 decades ago.

As a long time martial artist and physical fitness fanatic, he studied martial arts in order to learn how to increase endurance, make the body stronger and become more flexible. Along the way he found that disciplines like Judo, Jujitsu, Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Tai Chi, Qigong and Yoga could not only add to his physical health but also provided him with focus, calmness and mental stability.

His studies of psychology helped him gain insight into the workings of the human mind. He found that a person could actually learn to take back control of their mind through the use of technologies like Neuro Linguistic Programming and hypnotherapy as well as the discipline of Mindfulness Meditation.

Over the years he has passed on the information he’s learned to his martial arts students as well as to the parents of his younger students (he continues to teach martial arts to children for the YMCA in San Diego.) He also regularly provides this information to students where he presently teaches, the University of Integrated Studies and ITT Technical Institute in San Diego, CA.

Professor D is the founder of Total Mind Therapy© and since 2006 has used it to help thousands of people create rapid, positive life transformations.

Professor D regularly gives talks to groups both large and small about how to maximize their potential and make the most of their lives. If you want more information about Professor D please visit the website below or call (619)-293-3255.

Note: Wil Dieck began calling himself Professor D when many students in his college classes continually couldn’t pronounce his last name correctly (it’s pronounced DEEK) so he decided to make it easy for them all.
