Every Good Marriage Begins with a Funeral

amazon barnes & noble Christianbook.com Goodreads
Divorce often occurs not because of a partner’s character but because of the lack of marriage skills in both partners. We’ll talk about authenticity, and how most of the time we who are married are in love with an illusion of ourselves, not who we really are, which makes an authentic marriage really tough.

Hott Review:

Some time ago I decided to work on my marriage. Not because there are problems, but because I don’t want there to be. I’ve learned that when we take care of things they last, and I want this to last. So, with that in mind I picked up Gary Thomas’ eBook Every Good Marriage Begins with a Funeral.
What I liked: Talk about calls to action! Gary Thomas doesn’t pull any punches in this amazing little book. Each of these short chapters has a profound message supported by a Biblical principal and a great example. You can’t miss them.
While the point of Every Good Marriage Begins with a Funeral felt fundamentally about being less prideful and allowing — no requesting — our spouse have open input on how we can grow, there are so many good reminders and points I think I highlighted the entire book!!
What I didn’t like: I did feel like Every Good Marriage Begins with a Funeral was written more for husbands than for wives. It felt like he tried to make it universal, but didn’t quite get there. This was a porblem because it made it difficult at times for me to remember I was reading to fix me, not hubby. 😉
