Ariel Harding sneaks into Carlton House hoping to see her deceased mother one last time and learn why she took her own life, but that’s not to be when Lord Alan is haring after the ghost and making her disappear! What is he thinking anyway?!
Well, there is only one way to continue this investigation — to strike a bargain with him to help him roust the ghost if he’ll help her look into her mother’s death. And, maybe Ariel will be able to ignore these feelings he brings on.
What I liked: I really enjoyed Ariel. She’s really funny and I like how she handles Alan and his brothers. The search for Ariel’s mother and the ghost is quite odd and isn’t as well explained as it should be, BUT if you’re looking for a light fun read – The Bargain is for you!
What I didn’t like: Lord Alan, and the other Gresham brothers think women are complete idiots without the capability of thought or opinion. I was generally able to laugh it off, as Ariel is a strong female, but I know some won’t be interested because of this. I also can’t seem to figure out why the Gresham brothers have this opinion since their mother is intelligent and well respected by all of them.
