The Postcard Killers

What does it take to get a serial killer to notice you?

Barnes and NobleAmazonGoodreads

Desi wants to know so that it doesn’t happen again! Why on earth would the couple traipsing around Europe murdering couples send her a postcard of the newest victims? Most of the reporters that they’ve sent the postcards to have been big name, high ranking reporters. Why Desi?

And, another thing! Who IS this man following her around? This New York Police Detective? Sure his daughter was one of the newlyweds found at the first site but who would trail the killers all of Europe trying to catch them? Not any policeman, or woman, Desi knew.

Desi’s sure the NYPD Detective, Jacob, is sane. Pretty sure, anyway. At least, he seems so at times. He is however, completely immersed in this killing spree. Can Desi help him find these nutjobs and get her life back together before she loses what sanity she has remaining?

My Thoughts

I was so completely sure I was going to chilled to the bone by this book that I kept putting off reading it. Big mistake. I was enthralled. I’ll be reading more Patterson books in the future (good thing I enrolled in that challenge!).

What I enjoyed about this book. It was thrilling but I could still fall asleep at night (even without the lights on). There was gore but not too much. There was steam but it was cut and dry – not overly detailed. The characters were well developed.

What I didn’t like about this book. Well, actually, there was a climatic point in the book – about three quarters through – and when it was over I put the book down and went to sleep preparing to pick it up again. Then I just couldn’t get back into it. Before that I just couldn’t put it down. After that, I just wasn’t that interested. I’m not sure if it was just this day I’m having or what, but…

Rating: B+
Buy or Borrow: Borrow
Steam: It’s more than I’d want my kids to read but written in a matter-of-fact way not a romantic way.

** Many of the books I review are Advance Review Copies. These books are loaned to me for my review. I am in no way compensated for my time nor am I asked to give anything but my honest review.

  • hmmm interesting review…I usually like his books but lately they aren't like the page turners they used to be…finding that with the one I am reading now. Thanks for the honest review.

  • I enjoy JamesP, this one is getting different reviews but I'm sure I will enjoy it. I love how you said you can go sleep at night, lol

Found you from the 3R's Challenge, I'm a new follower.

  • It wasn't a bad book & I'll read more of his but it really wan't the thriller I expected.
As always, I appreciate your comments, Juju & Cmash!
Marce – I'm so glad you stopped by. We're always here goofing around…

  • Well, if you said you could sleep at night, perhaps I can too after this one. I'm taking your word for it and adding it to my TBR list. I'm not a huge James Patterson fan, but I've only read one of his books. Perhaps a second try is in order. Great review. Thanks for the recommendation!
