But first… a rant.

So last week was the first week in the marking period and my middle son, bug, (think soccer) had 3 basketball games plus we made him stay for his brother’s varsity games (it was senior week and homecoming). A rough week. Not much studying going on.

Then I get an email from a teacher. Telling me he’s upset because bug failed a test. Then bug apparently had an attitude when said teacher said he’d pull bug off of the basketball game for that grade.

First, well, yeah, he got an attitude. He’s 15 and you just threatened to pull him off of the team.

Second, why does this ONE grade matter? True, it’s the only grade in the book for the marking period but, honestly? He’s got a B average. This one F isn’t going to kill him.

Third, WHY do I, my hubby, AND the coach need to sign the failed test?

Whatever the point this teacher was trying to make completely sailed past me which meant I couldn’t impress upon my son what he did wrong.

Plus, the teacher completely lost any respect bug had for him by going way overboard for one test. I just don’t get it. I’m hoping it was just a bad day or a poor decision because goodness knows, bug doesn’t deal well with crazy. (Kind of makes you wonder why he likes me, doesn’t it?)
