She’s traveling with a group who just can’t fathom why it’s more important for her to get where she’s going than to see the wonders God has created. Yet, in their defense – that is the purpose of their trip – if not hers.
Things quickly go from bad to worse when they’re struck by thieves. To Sally’s misfortune she falls off the cliff and down the face of the canyon – hitting every tree branch on her way down. The artist sketching at the bottom can’t see how anyone could have lived from that fall yet, here, this girls appears to be alive – barely. If only he’d become a doctor at his father’s prompting instead of the artist he is. It’s too late for regrets, though, and barely enough time to get her to safety and medical attention.
The back-shotting thieves can’t believe their luck! They’ve really made out on this team of travelers. Now, all they need to do is find the cowpoke who toppled off the cliff, grab his snazzy Winchester, and kick this town for a while.
You know, I think I’ve decided to stop reading Mary Connealy books. I pick it up and then am so enthralled that real life stops & I’m part of the book. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, forget the laundry, the kids can make their own dinner…. UGH! Well, maybe I’ll quit later — on to the next in the series!!
