Hott Review:

I’m always on the lookout for books to share with the youngsters I love, so when I saw Tommy Nelson’s Brave Girls Confidential I just knew it would be perfect! And I was right!!

What I liked: I loved how Brave Girls Confidential is broken up into stories about each girl, kind of like a cross between a storybook and a devotional. These short stories are about real life successes, issues, and experiences that either they’ll deal with or will likely have a friend deal with. They’re interesting and uplifting.

Each story is paired with a verse and a quote. (Actually, I’d love these quote pages on the wall!!) Giving us a reminder that God is with us, no matter where, no matter what.

I think this would be a terrific way to start your girls with personal devotional reading. Personally, I enjoy letting them read themselves and then review the questions with them. It allows for accountibility and building your relationship. Win-win!

What I didn’t like: When I read the intro about each of the girls I was concerned that Brave Girls Confidential may be a bit too mature for the 7-year-old I was hoping t oshare it with. Even when reading, some of the experiences, like divorce, are things that we pray won’t touch our child’s lives, even peripherally. If your child is very sheltered or in a younger age group, I’d suggest reading each of these stories before sharing. Though I can honestly say after reading this, I’ll be sharing Tommy Nelson’s Brave Girls Confidential with my Brave Girl.

Author Bio:

Travis ThrasherBestselling author Travis Thrasher has written over 50 books, spanning genres in fiction, nonfiction and children’s literature. His inspirational stories have included collaborations with filmmakers, musicians, athletes, celebrities and pastors.

With the childhood goal of pursuing a writing career starting in third grade, Thrasher worked for 13 years at Tyndale House Publishers after graduating college. His experience working with authors allowed him to understand the writing life as well as training him to work with a variety of personalities. This experience has proven to be valuable with co-writing projects.

His novels are as diverse as the people he’s worked with, ranging from love stories to supernatural thrillers. This storytelling ability has also allowed him to work with others on their books, from country musician and American Idol winner Scotty McCreery to Bill Klein and Jen Arnold, reality TV stars of The Little Couple. Upcoming projects continue to expand his talents, with projects including Olympic Pride, American Prejudice about the lives of the other 17 American black athletes who competed in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and Baby Don’t Hurt Me about comedian Chris Kattan’s life and time on Saturday Night Live.

Travis lives with his wife and three young daughters in a suburb of Chicago and fittingly enough will have a children’s book entitled Brave Girls Confidential released later in 2017.
