When Lauren ends her shift one night, she finds herself driving aimlessly in order to avoid returning to her lonely apartment. And when she witnesses a car accident she is suddenly pulled into the small town of Grandon, first as a witness but then as a volunteer for the annual fundraiser for Glory’s Place, a center for single mothers and families who need assistance. Could this town and its people be the home she has always longed for?
The New York Times bestselling author of the timeless The Christmas Shoes and The Christmas Hope is back with this moving and uplifting story about finding love, hope, and family in unexpected places.
Hott Review:
What a book! The Christmas Town put me right into the loving, compassionate, Christmas Spirit I needed to start this year off right!
At times I did feel that the point of view was awkward, but within sentences, I was back in the groove of The Christmas Town and was able to dismiss those feelings.
I truly appreciated Lauren. There is just something about her that’s so very real. She’s been so hurt by the ones that were supposed to have loved her yet she responds to others in such a loving and compassionate way.
This town of Grandon is something I think about year-round. I wonder how I can emulate that hope and love to those around me. How can I be what they need? How can I be what HE needs me to be? And I pray, I pray that HE’s using these wonderful words to speak to the hearts of others, and that they be more than just a story in my life.
Thank you, Ms. VanLiere for giving us hope and a picture of love again this year.
Two of my favorite passages from The Christmas Town are:
Some things may never change but other things can be so completely different that they make the things that don’t change bearable. Somehow, that’s just enough to get her into tomorrow.
Miracles occur in the most unlikely places and in the most unusual ways. Sometimes, we just need to get out of the way and let them.
