  • James Patterson Reading Challenge II

Well, after much deliberation – meaning I really want to but couldn’t see how I could possibly add it – I’ve decided to join the James Patterson Reading Challenge II hosted by Socrates’ Book Reviews

To complete this challenge all you have to do is agree to a level, write a post, and then read the books. Doesn’t sound too hard, does it?

Well, I’ve never read James Patterson but I used to read a lot of Dean Koontz and started to get really weirded out by his books after I had kids. So I’m not completely sure if I’ll be able to complete the challenge.

I also have made a decision to start reading more Christian Fiction. Not that I dislike other fiction but, well, I’ve been very frustrated since I started doing the arc reviews because there is no steam rating on them. I don’t mind the steam – it’s the sleaze that annoys me. Romance in a book is terrific, I don’t even mind if more than that happens, but for me it doesn’t need to be part of the story. It also doesn’t need to be so, well, graphic.

Oops. I was talking about JP. Anyway.

I’m joining the Challenge. I’m going to read at least TWO James Patterson books between today and August 31, 2011. Which two? Well, Private, because I have that on my Nookie. As for the other, I’m not really sure. I found several in my library (the one at my house) the other night so I’m sure it’ll be one of those…

Have you joined this challenge?

  • I made a similar decision about Christian fiction a few years back. It helps that nowadays there are so many to choose from and that they're so well-written. I still have favorite authors in all genres, but couldn't deal with the ever deteriorating line between what I consider romantic elements and the stuff that's just unacceptable.
