Life-Changing Truth for a Skeptical World
The modern apologetics classic that started it all is now completely revised and updated—because the truth of the Bible doesn’t change, but its critics do. With the original Evidence That Demands a Verdict, bestselling author Josh McDowell gave Christian readers the answers they needed to defend their faith against the harshest critics and skeptics. Since that time, Evidence has remained a trusted resource for believers young and old. Bringing historical documentation and the best modern scholarship to bear on the trustworthiness of the Bible and its teachings, this extensive volume has encouraged and strengthened millions. Now, with his son Sean McDowell, Josh McDowell has updated and expanded this classic resource for a new generation. This is a book that invites readers to bring their doubts and doesn’t shy away from the tough questions.

Hott Review:
When I saw Evidence That Demands a Verdict was available for review at BookLook Bloggers I immediately snatched it up. It’s something I’ve been wanting to read and study for quite some time and it’s something my oldest & I have been skimming the surface of recently. Then the book came in the mail… and I realized I have encyclopedias* smaller than this! (*for those of you who don’t know an encyclopedia is a book or series of books that could fill all of your kindle’s available space but in printed form)
Ok… when I reaceived Evidence That Demands a Verdict I put it on my to-read shelf because I was overwhelmed with too much to do, so when I had time to read this, I found that it had disappeared and after looksing for days, I finally found it with my son’s school books. He loved it and wouldn’t give it up. So, my review is later than I wanted it to be, but reading Evidence That Demands a Verdict was oh so worth it! Plus, he already highlighted… everything… 🙂
What I liked: I actually loved Evidence That Demands a Verdict! It’s taken me months to get through it because I can only read a bit a night. Between my schedule and high process job I’ve found that I learn, and enjoy, more in small doses.
While Evidence That Demands a Verdict is overwhelming due to it’s size and information, I found every page interesting and spell-binding. There wasn’t a page that I didn’t find something new to strengthen my knowledge or love for the Lord. It was amazing how this was able to pull together so much that I know and reinforce my thoughts and strengthen my faith.
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like the shear volume of Evidence That Demands a Verdict. I couldn’t even hold the book. I eneded up purchasing it on kindle because I couldn’t hold it. The kindle version worked much better for me, though I do still prefer the physical book when I’m looking up references.
I also found that I could only read this in the morning, in the evening my brain was too tired to fully apreciate or comprehend what the pages were telling me.
Whether you’re looking for answers or reinforcement in your relationship with God, Evidence That Demands a Verdict is the way to go. (But don’t forget to read your Bible!!) It’s a great tool and enhancement to your spiritual journey.
