Lydia’s life is messy.

First her husband dies. Leaving her to care with their four year old son. Then she lost her job at the restaurant. Her only hope is to go to her grandfather’s and live with he and her mother. The only thing is… well, she and her mother don’t get along so very well. Lydia tries to be patient but her mother is so very critical.

Lydia must try though, she has a young son to protect. So she returns to her mother. Just imagine – after having a home of your own, doing things your own way, living in peaceful joy, and returning to a place where your son is scolded for laughing, you can’t invite others to visit, and being told how to do things you’ve done yourself for years. Yes, live isn’t quite so easy for Lydia. She makes the best of it and begs God for patience.

Hopefully, one of the men who have been visiting will offer for Lydia so that she can have her own home again. But which will she fall in love with? The widow who lost his wife to cancer only a year ago and is left struggling to care for his four boys or the normal man in a family of giants who works his life away so that his family can do less?

My Thoughts

Oh, my goodness!! This books dealt with so much I just don’t know how the author kept everyone straight and crammed all of those situations into one book. I laughed out loud in the first fifty pages. I was crying before I was a third of the way through. I even got angry a couple of times. Let me tell you – if you want an emotional rollercoaster this is the books for you!!

I’d recommend this book to just about everyone. It’s one I’ll share across the board – mom, sisters, grandma, and my nieces. Grab it, today!
