“We know that for those who love God all things work together for good”
The plaque has been on her mother’s fridge for as long as Rita Jansen can remember. She knows that this is a good and reliable promise, but she also knows that God never says how long we’ll need to wait for the good. In recent years, her brother was hurt on the playing field and lost his scholarship, her father lost his lucrative career and is making do with a low paying job, and now, Rita is racing from her Southern California home across the country to help after her mother’s stroke.
There’s not much for Rita to do at the hospital so she takes over her mother’s biggest stress – Hair and Now. The family business is their only stable source of income and by the looks of things it’s not quite so stable. The place looks shabby, the appointment books are empty, and the hairdressers are ready to retire.
Luckily, Rita’s been dressing hair for the stars since she left and knows how to bring this place around… but will her mother even be able to recover enough to enjoy it?
Hott Review:
Love Gently Falling is a very sweet romance, but the romance takes a complete backseat to the growth of Rita.
What I liked: I really enjoyed Rita. Watching her grow and learn – about herself and others – was really a lot of fun and quite interesting. The journey of the family through the stroke recovery process is very accurate – if a bit easier than I remember 🙂 – and gives a good look at the process for anyone unfamiliar.
What I didn’t like: Nothing. This is appropriate for everyone, but, I believe, will be most interesting to older teens and young adults.
