Christmas Review | Secret Santa

Mister Christmas

Claire knows when she’s being set up but sometimes there is just nothing you can do about it. What is she supposed to tell her best client? “No, Sir, I’m not flying from California to Ireland the week before Christmas because I don’t believe you when you claim to be dying”? Sure, That’s gonna fly.
But Claire definitely didn’t expect to meet Mister Christmas or to have her dreams come true…

Review: I greatly enjoyed this book. It was very Christmassy & a bit thrilling even though the romance was a bit quick and fanciful for me.

The Yellow Rose of Christmas

When sixty-four year maiden Velvet Tudmore begins receiving roses and notes from a secret admirer she thinks it’s a prank but as they continue she finally begins to see men as something other than worthless. Will her hopes be dashed or will her dreams come true?

Review: I didn’t love this. It took a lot for me to get through the set-up of Velvet’s feelings toward men. It ended well and was well written but isn’t for one who dislikes gender discrimination.

Author: Marie Bostwick
Grade: B
Ages: There’s no steam but I can’t honestly recommend this as it’s written.

Nightmare on Elf Street

What was I thinking? Honestly! I went in for an interview as an ad exec and ended up with a job as an elf & the promise of a second interview. I had no idea what was in store for me or I never would have thought that was a good deal! Especially when Santa is found deal and I’m the elf with the motive!

Review: WOW. We completely switched genres again! This set is making my head spin! 😉
It was cute but sometimes difficult for me to follow.

Room at the Inn

Socialite Barbara Stanowski is stuck in a rural cabin in the middle of nowhere in the midst of a blizzard with her husband, Jimmy and a few others and realizing that maybe her life isn’t as full as she’d always thought.

Review: This was absolutely my favorite of all of the novellas. It’s less of a romance and more a women’s fiction but it was so very real & just a perfect ending.
Side note: In this they participate in the tradition of Las Posadas. (“Las Posadas is a procession that takes place for the nine nights before Christmas, ending on Christmas Eve,” Elena said. “It is done in memory of the holy family’s journey to Jerusalem, and their search for a place for Mary to give birth to Jesus. The procession goes from house to house in the neighborhood, singing and praying. At each door they ask for shelter, but are turned away. At the last house, they’re welcomed in for more songs and praying and food and fellowship.”) To me this is one of the most special traditions & I’d love to be a part of it one day!
