Eight Years. Eight Years. Eight Years.

Barnes and Noble – AmazonGoodreads

Major has been in love with Meredith Guidry for years. Eight to be exact. However, he will not risk their friendship – or anything else – not know how she’ll react when she finds out about his mother. While on that subject – what is he going to do about his mother?

Meredith has been in love with Major for ever. Well, at least the last eight years. However, she’s a traditional girl and is waiting for some sign from him that he returns her attentions. Sure, he brings her food daily. Sure he walks her to her car. Sure he’s one of her best friends.

No. Meredith is done with waiting. She’s finally figured out that she’s just been praying for the wrong things. She’s been praying for God to bring her Major. Well, no more. Now she’ll pray for God to bring her a husband – she is thirty-five, after all – and help her end this heartache for Major.

That’s better, right?

My Thoughts

This is absolutely my favorite in the series – have I said that about each of them?? I absolutely loved Meredith! Or maybe it was Major I liked best. I’m not really sure but the characters felt like neighbors and I just couldn’t put the book down. I’m so hoping that eventually we’ll see some more Guidry books so I can find out about Jenn…

What I didn’t like. Eight Years!! It was just too unbelievable for me. Maybe I’m just a bit impatient? I was also extremely frustrated with Meredith’s parents. In books one and two they just seem unreal. However, because I read book three before book two I looked at them differently and they just became people to be instead of ‘the perfect parents’ they seem to be in this and the previous books.

Therefore, I suggest buying the series and reading them multiple times. There really is quite a lot of depth to these books that you don’t pick up the first time.

  • Sounds like a good book, but I agree about the eight years! I guess sometimes the authors really have to stretch to find a reason the couple was kept apart! I'm always impatient for the right folks to get together–it doesn't ruin the story for me.

  • Yeah, the eight years didn't ruin it for me but it just struck me as odd every time it was mentioned.

  • I loved the other two but I hated this one; I thought Major was, well, a major jerk! He was ashamed of his mother and while he wouldn't tell Meredith that he loved her and wanted to be with her, he didn't want her to find happiness with anyone else. I do love Meredith though.
