In the highly anticipated continuation of the Land of Stories series, Conner learns that the only place to fight the Masked Man’s literary army is inside his own short stories!
The Masked Man has captured all the royal families from the Land of Stories with the help of his army of literature’s greatest villains, including the Wicked Witch of the West, the Queen of Hearts, and Captain Hook. With his sinister plan finally in motion, he is eager to destroy the families and take his place as emperor.
Alex and Conner know they are no match against the Masked Man’s legion of villains, but they realize that they may be in possession of the greatest weapon of all: their own imaginations! So begins the twins’ journey into Conner’s very own stories to gather an army of pirates, cyborgs, superheroes, and mummies as they band together for the ultimate fight against the Masked Man.
Meanwhile, an even more dangerous plan is brewing–one that could change the fates of both the fairy-tale world and the Otherworld forever.
Conner’s tales come alive in the thrilling fifth adventure in the #1 New York Times bestselling Land of Stories series.

Hott Review:
Last month, I looked on my schedule and was excited to see that the next Land of Stories novel was next & I immediately grabbed it and began a journey of confusion. Why? Because I picked up the wrong book. I grabbed An Author’s Odyssey instead of Beyond the Kingdoms. I loved what I read, but I was seriously confused. Within the first couple of chapters I realized my mistake and grabbed the wrong book, but it also means that I have to advise you to plan to read all of these books in order. They’re just not built for stand-alone reading.
Overall, I really enjoyed An Author’s Odyssey. It has all of the adventure, personality, and hilarity I’ve come to love in this Chris Colfer series while still bringing in life lessons and plenty of growth opportunities.
In my opinion, An Author’s Odyssey isn’t appropriate for all Middle-grade audiences. The pirates enjoy their rum a bit much, Mother Goose talks about lust, and there are some moments I know my 9th grader isn’t ready for. (FYI – my thought is that if they’re unwilling to talk to you about it, they’re still too young to be participating in it!)
While An Author’s Odyssey has its moments, I think the good more than makes up for the uncomfortable moments.
