Unless, you’re Lionel Snodgrass and really only begged to attend camp in order to learn more about your absentee father.
I mean, can camp be too terribly awful when you’ve got your very own Walbaun foot granting your wishes? Okay, so, maybe the foot only gets it right, well, never, but still it’s funny and there is retribution.
Hopefully, Lionel makes it out of camp without any new bruises and with some new information!
Hott Review:
Lionel Goes to Camp is a great book about life!
What I liked: I really enjoyed this episode in the “Lionel’s Grand Adventure” series. Camp is such a big deal but not nearly like it was years ago when we spent time at camp. You know, when it actually consisted of camping! 🙂
One of the best things about this book is that it reinforces accountability. No, Lionel wasn’t completely responsible for everything that happened but instead of whining, he took his punishment and moved forward. There was no arguing, no complaining. Even better, Lionel earned the respect of his peers by doing what was right even when it wasn’t necessarily the easy choice.
Lionel Goes to Camp is a fun easy middle-grade read sure to promote maturity and selfless behavior in all who read it! Don’t miss out!
What I didn’t like: It really hurts my feelings how Lionel’s mother & brother treat him. Not only the way, but that he’s so use to it that it’s expected.
