Eleanor Scrooge finally has it all. Why then is she so dissatisfied? In fleeing her abusive childhood, she left behind the only man she’d ever loved–Bob Rachette. Years later, Eleanor’s no-nonsense approach to her successful business alienates everyone… including Bob. Widower Bob Rachette feels responsible for Eleanor. But when Eleanor insists her business come before his family, Bob puts his foot down… and loses his job. Meanwhile, an accident forces Eleanor to reexamine her life, her priorities, and the love she gave up.

Can the Lord use Faith, Hope, and Charity to break through her heart of stone?

Or will this Christmas be like all the others in Eleanor Scrooge’s life–a Bah Humbug?

Hott Review:

I have to admit, it’s been a long time since I’ve disliked a character as much as I disliked Eleanor Scrooge. She’s a manipulative bully. I’m honestly more surprised I continued reading. There was just some hope of redemption I kept seeing that allowed me to continue through the pages.

What I liked: Bah Humbug, Mrs. Scrooge has a strong Christian message and is a terrific book for those slipping away or coming back. It really reminds us who He is and why we follow Him.

There was little to no actual romance in Bah Humbug, Mrs. Scrooge. The relationship between Bob and Eleanor was tense even though they loved each other and were close friends. A more mature reader will understand the difference.

The book is set a few years ago and talks about technical aspects of websites. While those aspects are a bit dated, unless you actually program websites, you probably won’t notice.

What I didn’t like: As with the original Scrooge, the change is a bit abrupt and all inclusive to be realistic in my mind. Maybe because it simplifies and pulls out the struggles of the change?

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
