The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Social Media Marketing, Jennifer Abernethy @SalesLounge

WOW! This past week I was able to attend an Internet Marketing event given by Highrock Studios and featuring Jennifer Abernathy from The Sales Lounge. Jennifer is the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Social Media Marketing and her book

BNAmazonGR – Author

is a comprehensive guide to teach you how to make social media work for you. I absolutely loved hearing Jennifer speak!

I’ve always auto-copied my blog posts to twitter but really never saw how to it was going to help. However, after listening to Jennifer for a mere forty minutes and reviewing her book – I’m all over twitter! If you don’t know how to make social media work for you grab Jennifer’s book & find one of her speaking engagements – she’s show you how to make social media work for you in a ‘real world’ way.

My Thoughts

I always think it’s snazzy to meet an author but rarely do I meet an author – and I generally do not like non-fiction but there are times that it’s called for – and this is one of those times. I work in an industry where I use social media every day to do my boss’ branding but honestly I never realized that I could use it to work for me personally. I was laughing with my boss the other day that the only thing I really use twitter for is to bookmark things I’ll need to come back to or for technology research (which I’m sure that many of you realize) because I’m not really sure why I should be using it. However, after listening to Jennifer and then devouring her book I realized that I don’t need to decide where I want to go – I just need to start branding myself. That’s what is important – not that I understand it. I need to brand myself and connect with others.

As soon as I returned home last night I started to make social media work for me. I signed up for an account with Hootsuite and realized that I’m actually well positioned – I just need to take it to the next level.

So here’s to the next level – who’s going to join me?

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
