Victoria still cannot believe that her Grandmother left her Cedar Chapel Lodge, a senior boardinghouse.

Sure Victoria is friends with each of the residents, but it is still a lot of responsibility keeping up with the seniors!

Especially when, an innocuous errand takes her to the pet shop only to find it’s owner dead. Though the coroner declares it an accident, Victoria and her boarders believe that it’s murder. Now, not only do they need to prove that it’s really murder, they also need to get the local police force to believe them – and that’s not going to happen with only a parrot as a witness!

My Thoughts

I was drawn in from the moment I picked up the book. I actually got irritated because life kept intruding. I’ve never really known what a cozy was until I read this – then it all just clicked!

While I generally don’t enjoy first person books, it worked for this mystery. It was really enjoyable – though I do feel like I missed out on a previous book – and it could be read without any others in the series.

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
