Weddings stink! Well, not generally but

BNAmazonGRCBDAuthor

Ashley’s wedding is definitely not coming off as planned!

How could a celebration of the love and union of two people turn into such a circus? There are only a couple of months until her wedding and she has no dress, no shoes, no location, no photographer, no band, and no money. To be fair, Ashley did have a dress but her sis-in-law-to-be, Emily, cancelled it and replaced it with a Scarlet O’Hara dress. UGH. Emily just can’t seem to get that, even though she’s been hired as Ashley’s wedding coordinator, Ashley makes the decisions. Ashley’s the bride. And, Ashley did have the most gorgeous shoes… but her dog Rhett ate them. Grrr. And she did have money, but she gave that to her brother so that he could hold the social event of the year for his in-laws. AARRRHHH!

Ashley’s really trying to be nice and show Christian love – but what exactly does God expect?

My Thoughts

This was a really cute book but I just didn’t love it. The book was loaned to me by a fellow soccer mom at least three months ago but every time I picked it up I put it right back down. Something about the first person just didn’t work for me.

I did like Ashley and I enjoyed the story it just wasn’t a fun book for me. I could relate to her frustration with her mother (Mom was more interested in her new grandchild than planning a wedding), her in-laws (who want her to be like them instead of herself), and her fiancée (a resident who works constantly). I couldn’t understand her fascination with designer labels (most of which I had to look up to even get what she was talking about) nor her work schedule (she’s a patent attorney and skips out of work for wedding stuff) nor her coffee snobbery (I’m a coffee-aholic but… I really just didn’t get it).

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!

I've read the first two books in this series, which I liked. I was surprised that I liked them. I didn't read this one, because somehow the blurb and the buzz I had seen about it didn't connect. I might have to read it to see how it differs from the other two.
