The Heiress and the Hothead

To busy writing to notice the fairer sex, Stephen Corry loves his life. When he’s not running for his life due to his controversial subjects. His peers just want loyalty and pointing out the poor treatment in their mills wasn’t gaining Stephen any fans. All he needs to do is to prove that American owners are no better than his English peers and all will be well.

Amanda Keane may be a mill owner, but she doesn’t believe in the inhuman practices Stephen writes of. Who is he anyway to color all owners with the same brush? It’s time Stephen was knocked down off his soapbox! And Amanda is just the person to see it done. .. if she can avoid his kisses.

Favorite Quote: “Leave it to a man to ruin a perfectly good kiss by being an awful person.”

Review: The Heiress and the Hothead is a cute book but feels like it’s missing something. It’s interesting and well written but it’s not very romantic or Christmassy. Maybe reading other books in the Sinful Suitors series would help.

Author: Sabrina Jeffries
Grade: C+
Ages: 18+
Steam – Adult, some kissing and a brief interlude
Setting: Hertfordshire December 1829
Series: Sinful Suitors #1.5

Twelve Kisses

It’s been ten years. You’d think in that time Marcus Sutherland, the fourth Duke of Rothesay would have gotten over Kenna Stuart by now. Especially since she engaged and married right after he left. So why on earth does seeing her bring back images? Why is he jealous when they ask to meet her?

He’s just curious. .. right?

Favorite Quote: “I am leaving. Do not try to stop me, because I wish for pleasanter company, or at least someone with some good gossip.”

Review: While it’s no secret that I love a good Karen Hawkins tale, Twelve Kisses To Midnight did not disappoint. While the peripheral characters are well known in the Princes of Oxenburg series, Marcus and Kenna are new.
This is a terrific novella. Very romantic and sweet. It’s just not very Christmassy.

Author: Karen Hawkins
Grade: A
Ages: 18+
Steam – Adult | Quite explicit
Setting: England
Series: The Oxenburg Princes #2.5

By Any Other Name

It may be scandalous, but Amaryllis can’t help donning men’s clothes to search the worst Edinburgh has to offer in order to find her missing brother. Until a handsome stranger sees through her disguise and insists on helping… or something.

Favorite Quote: “You are saying you approve of a woman who ventures out in gentleman’s dress ? Who kisses strangers in closets?”
“I suppose I must, since I approve of you,” he shot back. He relaxed, his ready humor lighting again in his eyes. “As long, of course, as the stranger you are kissing is me.”

Review: Terrific! I REALLY enjoyed By Any Other Name. It’s my first Candace Camp book, but it won’t be the last. It’s quite steamy but very romantic and fun. It’s a ‘Do Not Miss’ novella!

Author: Candace Camp
Grade: A
Ages: 18+
Steam: Scorcher
Setting: Edinburgh, Scotland
Series: Secrets of the Loch #2.5

Sweet Ruin

It’s been two years. TWO YEARS! Georgiana Trent cannot believe Luca Goodwin’s gall at appearing in her home. Well, sure as a diplomat working for her father he had to come at his instruction, and yet… he walked out on her without a word. On to greener pastures. And now he asks as if nothing were amiss. Well, that shall not be!

Favorite Quote: Did you truly expect me to look on you as a friend— to treat you as a friend— after instructing me to be ashamed for having pestered you with my attentions?”

Review: Sweet Ruin was ok. It was too sad to be a light fun Christmas read, but still interesting.

Author: Meredith Duran
Grade: B
Ages: 16+
Steam: Adult | A short steamy page or two.
Setting: England 1885
Series: Rules for the Reckless #4.5 (Possibly??)

Hott Review:

Don’t miss What Happens Under the Mistletoe. I really enjoyed the book as a whole. It’s definitely something I’ll keep on my shelf to re-read!

My Life Verse

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. (John 8:7 (KJV))
