In less than a week Lizzy watches her peace-loving father argue with two completely different men. Then she’s rescued by one of those men, Jonathan, from the other, Marlowe. It’s not until later that Lizzy begins to wonder if she was rescued or kidnapped.

Lizzy isn’t sure why but something crazy is going on. Ever since the moment she turned twelve her world has just gone crazy! First there are these two men fighting over her. Then she’s unable to get in touch with her father. On top of that, well, Jonathan has been showing her amazing magical things, people, and places that should only exist in her imagination.

Does this really all come down to someone wanting the legacy she’s been handed as the last living descendant of William Shakespeare?

Hott Review:

Let me start by saying, I’m an amazingly bad blogger. I started to put off this review last week and realized that I’d bee putting it off since Jan of 2013, so I hunkered down to read it. You may ask why I kept skipping it. It’s because it’s 352 pages! Yes, I love the cover and the synopsis, but 352 pages for a YA book just felt like a COMMITMENT. So, here’s what I thought of the book 🙂
What I liked: Lizzy Speare and the Cursed Tomb was really a lot of fun. It’s a perfect middle grade read that’s packed with imagination, mystery, and adventure. (Though, the title and cover led me to believe it would be scary but, it wasn’t).
What I didn’t like: The only thing I didn’t love was that there were a lot of explanations. HOWEVER, even though I didn’t like that aspect I think that it’s a typical feeling/lack of info that Lizzy & her intended audience feels.

Ally Malinenko’s Bio:

Hi. I’m Ally.

I live in Brooklyn which is good except when it’s not which is horrid. I’ve been writing for awhile, and have some stuff published and some stuff not.

I don’t like when people refer to pets as their children and I can’t resist a handful of cheez-its when offered.

I have a burning desire to go to Antarctica, specifically to the South Pole so I can see where Robert Falcon Scott died.

I like to read books. I like to write stories and poems. I even wrote a novel. Rumor has it, it got published. So then I wrote another one. Rumor has it, that one got published too.

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
