Then Came You by Becky Wade

amazon barnes & noble Christianbook.com Goodreads

A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom.

Garner Bradford, heir to the troubled Bradford Shipping empire, doesn’t know much about babies. But he’s going to have to learn fast because he’s just become a single father to his newborn daughter. As he confesses through his journal entries, he’s not entirely sure how to keep a newborn alive, whether or not he’ll ever patch together his shattered heart, or how to forgive himself for his mistakes.

Career girl Kathleen Burke is wholly uninterested in settling down. She has big dreams, and none of them include Garner and his small hometown in Washington State. Yet she can’t seem to get her handsome boss out of her head or her heart. There’s something extraordinarily tempting about his beautifully sad green eyes. . . .

Told through journal entries, phone conversations, and letters, Then Came You is a unique, heart-stirring romance novella by acclaimed author Becky Wade.

Hott Review:

Then Came You is an amazing novella and a sweet start to a series.

I LOVED this cute book. Then Came You was a very emotional journey of what can happen when you decide not to follow the path God has designed for you, and what can happen when you do.

I really identify with both Garner and Kathleen. Their personalieies and struggles are so similar to my own it’s easy to feel like you’re a part of the story.

Oddly enough, I really liked that Then Came You was a series of conversations and journal entries. It never felt like I was missing anything, though a couple of times I was momentarily confused. Ms. Wade did a terrific jobb of covering everything and setting up the series. I almost felt like I was one of their girls reading about my parents life and trying to be a part of what came before.

Then Came You is a dear semi-contemporary (late 80’s – early 90’s) romance Christian novella that will remind you of the wonders of God’s grace and forgiveness in the light of our choices.

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
