Barnes & Noble eBooks

I have this problem. I’m addicted to reading. And since I received my Nook for Christmas – I just can’t stop! My hubby is SO sick to death of seeing it in my hands he’s threatened to hide it – except, he can’t pry it from my fingers…. he’s tried….

Please, don’t take this post wrong. I LOVE Barnes & Noble but occasionally there is something that just irritates me – as my hubby frequently says “even a saint could irritate you…’ and, well, he’s absolutely correct!

Anyway. To compound my addiction I need eBooks! I already have more than 300 and twice a week I check my B&N eBook wish list (as of today it’s only at 457… yep, definitely an addiction) to see what has gone on sale or is Free this week. I’ve asked them repeatedly to add a way to sort the wish list my price or even by discount – to no avail…

On to my discovery…

This morning as I was running through my list I noticed that a couple of books are no longer available as eBooks.

Can you read this? It says ‘A new copy is not available from Barnes & Noble.com at this time.’

Now why on earth would they do that? Will they be re-releasing? Sanctuary is one of my favorites by NR and Blue Smoke is still a fairly new release. I am extremely irked that they just stop selling books without letting anyone know – If I’d have known last week I’d have bought them last week.

Don’t they have a way to say – ‘oh, hey this is on a wish list – maybe we should let them know that we’re getting rid of it & have no replacement’.

Next, up on my rant – The B&N membership. When I signed up my Nook and got my online bookstore account all of the books were discounted. They said ‘Member Price:’ and had a reduced price with a terrific discount. Cool. Except one day I went in there and low & behold many of my books were no longer discounted. So, I grabbed the few that were still greatly discounted & decided that I’d get a membership.

Last week I got my membership – Guess what?!? It doesn’t discount eBooks, doesn’t work in the online store (except the shipping discount), and it doesn’t work for audio downloads. So what the heck am I supposed to do with it? The closest store is more than an hour from here. Besides I switched to eBooks ’cause now I have this snazzy little Nooky. GRRR.

Why do they do this? They’re not making any money – they’re only irritating their customers.

What do you think? Do you have a Nook? Is anyone else having problems? I suppose it’s entirely possible – not probable, mind you, but possible – that it could just be me…

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
