BAZAAR Trailer:

Inside the Author of BAZAAR:

I’m so excited to share that Miles Joyner, author of BAZAAR visited with me recently. Here are some highlights from our conversation.

What inspired you to write your first book?

After I had entered a pilot into several screenplay contests, I received positive feedback about the plot but some constructive comments regarding the characters. I decided then to turn Bazaar into a book to flesh the story out and further explore how such a phenomenon would affect society. I wrote the first few chapters and showed it to some writer friends of mine who responded very well. After a couple years of writer’s block, I finally finished the first draft in 2023.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Nope. Obviously, there are always ways one can improve as a writer, but after finishing it and reading other books written in a similar pace, I realized I found my voice. A few readers were a bit caught off guard by the multiple POVs and there will always be people who don’t like my style of writing, but there’s no other way I wished to tell the story.

Who has impacted your life the most and in what way?

It’s a tie between my mother and father. My childhood couldn’t have been better, and it provided the perfect springboard for me to pursue a creative career. Enough discipline to keep me out of trouble, but a sprinkle of autonomy for me to figure out my own path in life.

What event in your life do you remember first when asked for a humorous story?

My father was a huge fan of jazz music and one of his favorite musicians of all time was Miles Davis. After having a few drinks at one of Davis’ live performances in Boston, my father approached him before his set to make a song request. Miles responded by telling my dad and his friends ‘to go sit down and shut the f**k up.’ Clearly this happened a decade or two before I was born, but hearing this personal story from my pops about the man he named me after always made laugh. It highlights my father’s humility, humor, and great aesthetic taste all in one. God rest his soul.

Hott Review:

Miles Joyner’s BAZAAR was a total game-changer for me! I usually steer clear of techno-thrillers, but this one had me hooked from the first words. Aaron and team at RAPTOR had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I didn’t want to put the book down. The Uzunma siblings (RAPTOR) are a force to be reckoned with, and their executive protection firm takes the action to a whole new level.

The story revolves around a high-profile homicide in the nation’s capital that is linked to an online assassination market. The Uzunma siblings see an opportunity for their executive protection firm, RAPTOR, as they enter a dangerous game to keep their client safe. The inventive killers will stop at nothing to achieve their goal, leading to a thrilling and action-packed read.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for the RAPTOR team!!

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
