My children attend a private school. I love the teachers and the principal. They’re wonderful people. However, I honestly do NOT understand the administration.
Several years ago they enacted a new policy that if you work at the school and attend the church that runs the school and you leave that church you will be terminated from your position. It’s taken the turn that if anyone changes churches they’re dismissed. I don’t get it.
I can understand that their position would be up for review. Especially, since members of the church are given first access to new positions. I can understand that staff should be required to attend church regularly. I can understand some fo the point but definitely not all of it.
My point —
-
God never required us to be a member of a church.
No where in the Bible are we required to do so. He wants us to have a relationship with Him – that’s the important part.
-
Church attendance & membership is a personal thing.
This is something between the staff member and God. No one else knows what God is calling you to do. God gives each of us our own route and he may be calling staff to do something more important.
-
Telling children on a bus that their bus driver is not a Godly person because she chose not to attend your church is wrong.
First of all, I do NOT believe that a true Godly person would talk about others in such a way – especially to the friends of her children. Second, the church you attend does not make you’re a Godly person any more than having a convicted parent makes you a convict.

Grow Up!
Maybe it’s time to take a look at your leadership. If you’re resorting to threats and insults when you’re having a “conversation” with your staff there is a leadership problem — there isn’t any. Maybe you should pray about it.

Church vs School-
I know that the church board makes the final say about the school BUT that does NOT mean they have the only say – no matter what you think. There are more than 300 children in this school and each one of their parents pays tuition & should have a vote on policies like this.

Seriously?!?
If you know your job is on the line and still chose to change churches don’t you think there’s a pretty good reason. I mean, maybe some self-reflection is in order by the board president & pastor.
These are just my thoughts. It’s seems so funny to me that in this “free” society we live in we have so many dictators.
Whoa. Crazy talk!!! They can’t change churches and be considered “Godly”. Yuck. So uncool. I would want nothing to do with them. Thanks for sharing your struggles. I had no idea this is an issue.
It’s been a disaster. I’m so very heartbroken. I don’t expect Christians or even Christian Leaders to be perfect but I felt that this behavior was uncalled for. I’m just praying that God’s hand is in this.
