I normally don’t deviate much from my schedule, but I thought that there would be some of you that may need this, so I’m including it.

Cancer is the cause of death for one in three of us in the United States and inevitably affects all of our lives.

Persons who are inquisitive about and actively involved in their own healthcare have better health outcomes. The Cancer Solution is readable for laypersons and contains technical details for health care professionals. It gives a broad overview of the different forms of cancer treatment and cancer research; provides technical details so that it can be used as a reference for questions about specific aspects of cancer; describes complementary cancer care; and encourages laypersons and professionals to become informed advocates for federal and private funding of research that focuses on preventing and treating the underlying causes of cancer.

The traditional focus on killing cancer cells puts the cart before the horse and explains why the conventional treatment of different forms of cancer has not won the War on Cancer. In fact, decades of potential progress against cancer have been lost.

The Cancer Solution offers science-based guidance and encouragement that will enable patients, their families, and health care professionals to become informed advocates for funding cutting edge cancer research and care.

Public understanding of the situation and pressure for change is needed to point cancer research and care in a preventive and curative direction by supporting and funding the initiatives of the American Association of Clinical Oncology and the National Cancer Institute that focus on the process through which cancer cells develop ─ neoplasia.

“Dr. Westman’s personal experience with cancer led him to extensively research the state of cancer care. Strengthening the body’s own immune system to prevent and control cancer has shown very promising results, but it is largely ignored by mainstream cancer research and treatment.
If you care about winning the war on cancer, this book will motivate you to advocate for more funding for this line of research.
~ Stephen L. Swanson, Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society

Hott Interview:

I got to spend a few moments asking Dr Westman about his book, here’s what I’ve learned:
Dr. Westman, why specifically were you drawn to write this book? My beloved wife Nancy’s 34 years of life with cancer and ultimate debilitating process of dying from cancer compelled me to learn all that I could about cancer research and treatment. The appearance of cancer in two relatives and the urging of friends clinched my determination to share what I have learned with persons affected by cancer and with other health care professionals.
I know that they must be many whose lives have been enriched through your book, The Cancer Solution: Taking Charge of Your Life with Cancer, can you tell us about any? There are two friends with stage 3 and 4 cancer who have been following my discoveries as I wrote the chapter on complementary therapies. They have been doing much better than their doctors expected. It is too early to know about the impact of the book, which was just made available.
What is the biggest message that you’d like to convey with this book? We must add strengthening the immune system to surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy in the treatment of cancer, and cancer research must be focused on preventing and stopping neoplasia, the process that produces cancer.

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
