Monthly Mix-up Mania

Hmmmm. Did you see? Bev at My Reader’s Block Joined ANOTHER challenge. That means she has two more than I do. TWO. Can you believe that?!?! On one hand it’s nicest to know that I’m not the most obsessed but on the other — SHE HAS MORE THAN ME!

Actually, I’d probably have more except the ones I’ve been finding just don’t fit in with my planned reading schedule. Until, I saw the newest one Bev joined: Monthly Mix-up Mania

Here’s the scoop on the Monthly Mix-up Mania Challenge sponsored by Book Dragon:

What: To read a book for each letter in the year. That’s right, a title for the J in January and the A in January, etc…. 74 books total!

Official Start date: April 1, 2011 – because we’re fools to try this but any book read since 1-1-11 counts
End date: March 31, 2013 – yes, two years, because well, we have other challenges to do

Guidelines:

  • only one letter per book
  • books can be moved around if it fits better somewhere else after you’ve read it
  • the letter doesn’t have to be the first word, just the first letter of a word in the title (a, an, and the do not count)
  • reviews aren’t necessary but a quick ‘I read for letter… it was about… I did/not like it’ would be nice
  • if you decide to join in, create a post on your blog telling others then come back and link up to the actual post
  • a blog is not necessary, just comment on that month’s post at the Lair
  • if you get stuck, an author’s name will do in a pinch
  • the most important thing is to have fun!

Since I can use the books I’ve read since 1/1/11 I’m already complete 48 of 74 books. So, I’m 65% Complete. Of course, now I need to find books with ‘E’ & ‘U’ in the title & it’s not going to be as easy as it sounds.

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!

People come up with the most creative challenges!!! How cool that you're already 65% done with this one just based on what you've read so far!

I went through my list of books read so far this year and for the letter 'E' how about:

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë ? I read the graphic novel. Hey! It counts!

Elfland by Freda Warrington. I loved this book, but I don't know if you read fantasy.

Naomi & Ely's No Kiss List by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan. YA. I really enjoyed this one.

For the letter 'U', I read:
Lover Unleashed by J.R. Ward. This was book nine or something in her paranormal romance series. Don't think you would enjoy it if you didn't already read books 1-8. :/

Burning Up by Knight, Singh, Kantra, Brook. Paranormal romance anthology.

I don't know if that helps you.. but gives you some ideas maybe.

    Good luck!!

I can't believe I made a list, but I did (on my computer) and have 40 out of 74. Not bad, right?
