Detective Oliver Tucker never knew how perilous dying was until he stumbled onto William Mendelson—murdered in a hidden vault where Egyptian relics and World War II secrets were once stashed. Now those relics are missing. The secrets are coming out. The dead are talking.

Tuck, the detective for the dead—the Dead Detective—is pulled into the case by the spirit of a World War II Office of Strategic Services operative with his own agenda. OSS Captain Ollie Tucker I—Tuck’s namesake—knows the past is catching up to the survivors of an Egyptian spy ring from more than seventy years ago. With the help of his beautiful and brilliant wife, Angel, and his gruff former partner, Detective Bear Braddock, Tuck must unravel a tale of spies, murderers, and thieves.

As Tuck’s case unfolds, he confronts the growing distance between his death and Angel’s life—and the solution is a killer of its own.

Hott Review:

Tuck is back and deader than ever.. oops better than ever.

When a bank president is found murdered in a secret vault we find that some secrets just don’t stay hidden … Especially secret alliances and dalliances.

It’s quite the puzzle for Tuck, his lovely wife, and former partner as they pull together clues and filter through secrets about this murder, a cold case, and a horde of missing artifacts. Will they ferret out the truth before everyone keeping secrets is lost?

O’Connor does a fantastic job of drawing readers into the story, making them feel like they are part of the investigation alongside Tuck and his companions. The evolving relationship between Tuck and his wife adds an emotional layer to the plot, creating a bittersweet undertone to the novel.

In DYING TO TELL Tj O’Connor’s storytelling draws readers into the mystery, making them feel like they are right alongside Tuck as he unravels the case. The evolving relationship between Tuck and Angel adds an emotional depth to the plot, creating a bittersweet undertone to the novel. The book is filled with clever plot twists and engaging characters that will leave mystery and crime fiction fans flying through the pages. As I read, I found myself fully immersed in the story, eagerly filtering through the clues, lies, and secrets to determine which are important and which are red herrings wanting to uncover the truth behind the murder and the missing artifacts before Tuck and the gang.

I have enjoyed each of these DEAD DETECTIVE CASEFILES books tremendously, O’Connor has crafted a thrilling and engaging mystery series that keeps readers guessing until the very end. As I read I feel like I’m a part of the story and tagging along as Tuck solves mysteries along with his trusty sidekicks and have begun to wonder if maybe Tuck’s presence is present for more than just Angela and Bear…. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to be released!

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
