KIDS ARE VANISHING IN VICTORIAN LONDON. ONLY TOBY KNOWS WHY.
CAN HE SAVE THE CITY BEFORE FALLING VICTIM HIMSELF?

After twelve-year-old Toby Carter escapes a brutal workhouse at Christmas, he can’t believe his good fortune. Adopted by a band of travelling performers called The Winter Freak Show who put on spellbinding shows each night, he finally believes he’s found the family he always wanted. Then everything falls apart.

Children are disappearing throughout the city. Pretty soon, all evidence points to those Toby trusted the most and he finds himself caught up in a conspiracy far more sinister than he ever imagined. Defenceless and on the run, he’s confronted with two options: uncover the kidnapper before another child falls victim, or stand by and watch as the shadowy criminal becomes unstoppable.

The fate of Christmas rests in the balance.

Hott Review:

Want something a bit different? You’ll want to try The Winter Freak Show!

What I liked: The Winter Freak Show is a great book! It was quite an adventure from the first page. The characters are fun and well developed. I’d suggest it for teens, instead of middle-grade, but overall I really enjoyed it!

I SO can’t wait to read the 2nd book in the Twisted Christmas Trilogy!!

What I didn’t like: While The Winter Freak Show is suggested for middle-grade readers, it’s definitely not appropriate for all MG readers. There are some areas that are a bit dark and graphic. It’s deinifetly not for middle-grade readers who are easily scared or uncomfortable.

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
