Synopsis:

cover

LAKE CITY HEROES

She’s out for justice. But the arsonist she’s tracking is out for retribution.

Now the fire marshal of Lake City, Jesslyn McCormick is determined to find the person who started the fire that robbed her of her family when she was just seven years old. As the twentieth anniversary of the tragedy approaches, a string of fires–including at Jesslyn’s church–brings up all those old feelings and offers new evidence.

Because church fires are considered a hate crime, FBI Special Agent Nathan Carlisle is called in to work with local law enforcement. Nathan has his own past–one he’d prefer not to revisit. And focusing on helping Jesslyn track down the arsonist is a great distraction.

As both the case and the chemistry between Jesslyn and Nathan heat up, memories will come flooding in from the past to bump up against hopes for the future. And when Jesslyn comes face-to-face with her worst nightmare, she’ll have to confront her fears and rely on Nathan and her community of friends in order to survive.

Praise for Serial Burn:

“Eason resumes her Lake City Heroes series with a propulsive game of cat and mouse between a fire marshal and an arsonist who’s eerily familiar with her past. . . .The result is a thrill ride worth taking.”
~ Publishers Weekly

Inside the Author of Serial Burn:

I’m so excited to share that Lynette Eason, author of Serial Burn visited with me recently. Here are some highlights from our conversation.

What inspired you to write your first book?

Loneliness. LOL. Seriously. I was a new mom with a husband who traveled for his job. He was gone all the time and while I’m an introvert and okay with my own company, sometimes I needed something more than my own thoughts and baby talk! I’m sure you can imagine. Anyway, I’d always wanted to write a book, had even tried in the 8th grade, but decided back then that writing a book was just way too hard and gave it up. Fast forward to 1998. I decided, why not? So, I started the story and actually finished it. I let a few people read it and was encouraged by their enthusiasm. Yes, these were people other than my mother. 😀 Anyway, that book never was published, but three books later, I got the call that the publisher wanted to buy the story.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No. I’m usually happy with the way the story comes out in the end. After lots of angst and hair pulling, cabinet kicking, prayers, walks and edits, the story winds up being what it was meant to be all along. So, no, I wouldn’t change a thing. Then again, I never read them after they come out so if I was to read it, I might have a different answer! LOL!

Who has impacted your life the most and in what way?

This is a hard question because it would depend on what area of my life you’re talking about. My parents for sure. I grew up in a faith-filled middle-class home where my dad was a Realtor and my mother a stay at home mom. Think Leave it to Beaver if you’re old enough to remember that show. This year my parents will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. I grew up to believe that I could do anything or be anything I wanted so I never had a real issue with self-esteem. I never had a big rebellion period. My mom was my best friend even as a teen, and she and my dad were/are my biggest cheerleaders. So, yes, you might say I had the perfect childhood. In spite of all of that, no, my life hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been good and I’m thankful. My husband has also been a huge influence in my life. He loves me as is. 😀 He’s also my biggest supporter and I couldn’t do what I do without him.

What event in your life do you remember first when asked for a humorous story?

I have to pick just one?? LOL. Okay, I was at a funeral for a dear man who was like another grandfather to me and a woman came up to me gushing about my latest book and how I was her favorite author. I was so pleased, of course. She encouraged me to keep writing and couldn’t wait for the sequel to If I Run. I tried not to freeze or laugh, but If I Run wasn’t my book, it was Terri Blackstock’s. I just smiled and thanked her and she went off to find her seat. I’m okay with being mistaken for one of my hero authors. 😀

Awww. What a wonderful story… all of them. I can’t wait to chat again!

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
