Hott Synopsis
When an accountant and her fiancé are both found murdered, Eve sees stars. She knows the murders are connected – even though they occurred hours apart and in different areas of town – and she’s positive that it has something to do with the job.

But the numbers keep dancing in her head… How does Roarke like numbers?

And the babies. Mavis is due any moment and Eve needs to throw her best friend a shower whose guests will include Mavis’s entire birthing class. Hopefully no one will pop before its over.

Fun. Exciting.

Though I loved the mystery it took the backseat in this novel to the story. This book revolved around friendship. It was very emotional – well, for an Eve book – and quite relaxing.

Review: Oops

Hott Synopsis
Today we find T.J. Tearing down the halls in front of an African Elephant who oddly enough speaks with an English accent.

How did she wind up in this predicament, you ask? Well, it’s all thanks for the two time traveling teens that merely wanted to interview her for their history project.

What will they get her into next?

Hott Review

In my opinion this was a cute and simple book – but in the opinion of my non-reading 11-year-old, this book was AWESOME! Even my teen enjoyed it.

We both agreed that it was fun and a definite Christian read that will enhance even the most reluctant reader’s bookshelf.

This was the third book in the series and I picked it up and enjoyed it without confusion – though I will be buying more.

This book received an A+ from me because it’s the first book my son has finished with more than 100 pages… Except for the Wimpy Kid series.

I still remember being told not to ‘poke a sleeping bear’ just as I was about to do something that would cause a tremendous reaction – and that’s exactly what I was repeating in my head as I read this book.

Though well written and interesting this book is a great resource. It’s an awesome ‘how to make twitter work for you’ book. Honestly, this book is also a great book to give to this up and coming generation to show them the power your words can have in social media.

Review: The Secret Of The Sacred Scarab

A perfect adventure for a middle-grade reader. I’d suggest this book for someone with a reading level just above the ‘Boxcar Children’ Series but ready for a longer and more substantial adventure.

This was a perfect readying level for my second grader but still adventurous enough for my eighth grade.

Review: The Scroll

Hott Synopsis

Expect the worst. Hope for the best.

Three of the worlds top archaeologists are given offers they can’t refuse to drop everything they’re doing and join a new dig. A top secret dig.

The copper scrolls are mentioned but no firm facts are given. Not even at the kick-off meeting – where they meet the host and their security detail(?!?!?). In fact, the only thing the team is sure of is that they don’t trust each other and they can’t trust anyone else.

Can this team find what they’re looking for? Will it be artifacts? The God that is being questioned? The fiance who lost his faith? Or just more money than is imaginable?

Will they live long enough to see it?

Let me preface this by saying that I loved this book. Yet, I know it’s a book that not all will enjoy. Due to the very nature of the topic quite a lot of the first third of the book was devoted to setting. It was done in a fun and interesting way, but if you’re not interested you’re not going to love it. I loved it but could only process about a dozen pages at a time of that first third.

Throughout the book there were times that I couldn’t put the book down and others where I wanted to put it down but all in all, the hardest part for me? Reminding myself that it’s fiction…

Terrifying. Awesome. I couldn’t put it down. I completely devoured it on my flight across the country.

I have this love-hate relationship with this series. I always get so frustrated that I’m not spot no when I guess who the perpetrator will be… but I can’t wait to find out!

This book is not completely YA friendly. It would be but for a picturesque view of how kids online game sites are bring abused by perpetrators and pedophiles you need to grab a copy – this isn’t fiction!

Review: The Rogue’s Reform

Such a nice read! I love historical romances but this is the first inspirational historical that I’ve loved. It flowed really well. I loved the romance, the setting, the characters, and the reliance on God.

Many times when I’ve read an inspirational I’ve felt that God was shoved into a plot or that it just didn’t flow. Not so with this read. Everything about this just felt right.

Review: Head Over Heels

Hott Synopsis

Sisters.Chloe is the youngest and the most irresponsible. Of course, she also has the biggest heart and the biggest problem staying still.

Trying to stay out of trouble and keep their joint venture B&B out of the wrong pages of the newspaper is starting to wear on her nerves – well, That and trying to avoid the straight-arrow, by-the-book sheriff who is obviously a dead end for her.

If only she could stop herself.

The children were captivated.
I’m not sure what we enjoyed more – the pictures, Isabella’s imagination, or her personality. I personally, enjoyed the photos and description included in the back to help teach the children a bit more about their travels.
This will be a great addition to every library.

Recently, I got to chat with Fiona Ingram, author of The Secret of the Sacred Scarab. As always, I was enthralled by her setting and adventure. I’d like to share some of that conversation here.

After reading your book, it’s obvious that Egypt intrigues you. What fascinates you most?

My love of all things Egyptian began at age 8 when my mother gave me the Time Life series book Ancient Egypt as my first encyclopaedia. The Egyptian culture is truly phenomenal for many reasons. I think the level of sophistication is breathtaking; the development of their ideology, mythology, architectural and engineering achievements, and written language and system of record keeping surpasses anything that’s been discovered. The most fascinating thing about Egypt for me is the ultimate question: how did they build the pyramids? Ancient Egyptians did not have complex machinery nor the expertise of modern architects with computer programs to help in the design, plus Egypt has a particularly harsh climate. So how did they raise those enormous blocks of stone? The Egyptians didn’t even have the pulley because that was only discovered in Roman times. The building of the pyramids is one of ancient history’s best kept secrets!

2 – I love that you pulled the mysteries of Egypt together with middle-graders. What prompted you to do that?

I went to Egypt with my two young nephews (aged 10 and 12) and my mom, and because the boys were so enthusiastic about the country, the history, the temples, and the pyramids, I decided to write a short adventure story with them as the heroes. Well, the story just grew and grew, and I ended up with a book for adventurous readers about the same ages my nephews were at the time.

3 – Can we anticipate more books from you?

Definitely! I have completed Book Two in the series Chronicles of the Stone. It’s called The Search for the Stone of Excalibur, and takes the boys to Britain, exploring the history of King Arthur and the Dark Ages in their quest for the Second Stone of Power. I am about to begin Book Three, which is The Temple of the Crystal Timekeeper. This book is set in Mexico and takes our young heroes on another exciting adventure, exploring the jungles of Mexico, ancient Mayan ruins and a brush with Aztec sacrificial practices. Don’t worry, my heroes are very good at escaping danger! I’m sure they’ll outwit the baddies again.
