A Week in the Life…

So how is everyone today?

Me? I’m exhausted!

Last weekend’s soccer tournament – We won our division. YEAH!!! – consisted of six games in two days. Bug was ecstatic. By Monday I was dragging but I had to prepare for CJ’s 6th grade graduation.

I pulled a PowerPoint together of as many pics of the kids as I could commandeer. Hubby & I argued over music for more than an hour – it’s a fairly conservative Christian school and I wanted something that the audience wouldn’t fall asleep to. I ran out and got Father’s Day cards and Teacher gifts. Oh, then I had to proof my boss’s new book – due out in the fall.

Tuesday was fun. I worked all day on site plan layouts and making sure they conformed to code – I left with a headache. Ran to the store to finish the graduation teacher’s gifts. Cried through my baby’s ceremony – well, the good parts. This was a huge deal. CJ had a terrible time learning to read and finally just started to read. At the ceremony he received the presidential achievement award for his state tests and having a B average from 3-6 grades. Mommy is so proud!

Wednesday I spent the day trying to get a silly webinar set up – GRRR. It works, sort of… Then off to Zany’s soccer game. Then to an awards ceremony. Another night we didn’t get home until after 9. My kids must be in bed early – they get up at 6! And I still had cupcakes to make for Thursday’s parties.

Thursday morning came entirely too fast. I got up early – and I detest mornings!! Cut up fruit & veggies for the 6th grade class party – yes, they had to return to school after graduation. Ice about a million cupcakes – I had to make cupcakes for Zany’s class also. Pack up the car and off we go!.

The party was fun. The other mom did ‘Minute to Win It’ games and the kids had a terrific time. I took care of the crafts. Then we had a huge lunch and water balloons. But it was SO HOT! By the time I was home again I pulled the chair into the lawn and grabbed a book. I didn’t move until the rain started – even then it was difficult.

I hate to say it but my brother-in-law went into the hospital yesterday so family dinner night was so grateful – I hate to be happy about another’s trials but I was so grateful! I made the kids pancakes & we chilled. I read all of ‘The Sea of Monsters’ the day was so terrific!

So we’re back at it – hopefully I’ll get some reading done. Or possible pull the weeds that have overtaken my home.

What are you up to?

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!

Okay. I need a nap after reading that!

I have weeks like that sometimes too. It is so exhausting and I'm always wishing for more time to do it all. Somehow everything gets done, doesn't it?

So are your kids out of school now for the summer? We have a couple more weeks left. Grr!
