Donuts

Our family spends lots of time together. I’m not talking about myself, hubby, & the kids. I’m talking about his parents, his brothers, and their families. We are actually all very close – we have dinner together every Thursday and visit Grandma’s together on Sundays after church. My kids hang out there after school and most of the grandkids are there for Pappy-Day- Pappy’s day off each week. (I know it sounds terribly odd but it really is fun.)

On Sunday, Skeeter my 3 yr old nephew brought his favorite snack – chocolate covered donuts – to pappy’s to enjoy with pap on Pappy-Day. When he got there, though, he insisted on hiding the donuts from CJ because ‘he eats everything!”

Skeeter missed Pappy-Day this week so last night he was preparing to take the three remaining donuts – CJ did find them – home with him. They were on Grammy’s bed with the diaper bag so they wouldn’t be forgotten.

As we were preparing to leave, he asked to ride with us as they were stopping by the house to get something on their way home. We couldn’t possible say no so off we went.

A few miles down the road he asked if mommy got his donuts. I asked, ‘were they with the diaper bag where daddy put them?’
“No, I didn’t want CJ to find them.’
‘well, where were they?’
‘under the chair where Grammy gets ready’
‘you put them under the vanity?’
‘yes’

Well, I guess CJ’s going to get the donuts after all…

I love to read! But I don't always think the synopsis on the backs of books do them justice. I do, however, believe all books should come with an intended rating - or at least a steam FYI. So, I'm taking upon myself to educate all -- christian & secular readers, alike -- on the books behind the synopsis and the possible things you may not want your YA reader to see. Enjoy!
